Colquitt Institution Release Paths
Colquitt County Correctional Institution is a county correctional institution that houses state offenders. GDC describes the population as adult male felons at medium security. That makes its records path different from Colquitt County Jail, which handles local booking and detention. A person may leave the institution through parole, expiration of the state sentence, a court-directed change, or transfer within the GDC system.
Only parole or discharge can place the person back in the community. A transfer keeps the state custody term open. If a GDC result names a new facility, use the receiving facility and status rather than calling the move a release. If it shows a past release date or no current facility, compare the date with the Parole Board and Department of Community Supervision. Parole means conditional community release before the sentence fully ends. Discharge means the sentence or supervision term has ended as recorded by the responsible agency.
Search Colquitt Institution Releases
The official GDC Find an Offender service is the first search. Accept its disclaimer, then use a full legal name, GDC identification number, or case details. Add age, aliases, physical identifiers, county of conviction, and sentence data when common names produce several records. Someone who was only held in the county jail and never entered state custody may not appear.
- Confirm that the person served a state sentence at the correctional institution.
- Search GDC by name and the strongest available identifier.
- Record the GDC number, status, listed facility, offense, sentence, and visible date fields.
- Check the Parole Board TPM or parolee tools if parole is shown or expected.
- Contact GDC records when a date or status must be verified in writing.
The statewide record may display a photograph, facility history, sentence information, and release-related dates. GDC cautions that its public service may not be complete or current and directs written verification to Inmate Records and Information. Use the exact label displayed. A maximum release date is not always the same as the date someone will walk out.
Note: Name-only results need a second identifier before a Colquitt County Correctional Institution record is attributed to one person.
Colquitt Release Date Checks
Georgia splits projected-date information across corrections and parole sources. A GDC record may show a maximum release date or other sentence fields. The State Board of Pardons and Paroles provides the Inmate TPM Lookup. TPM means Tentative Parole Month, the month in which the Board expects to complete a final case review and, if appropriate, set a parole release date.
| Record | Meaning | Best verification |
|---|---|---|
| Current facility | Where GDC presently assigns the offender | GDC offender record or facility |
| Maximum release date | Sentence-related endpoint shown by GDC | GDC Inmate Records |
| TPM | Tentative month for parole review and possible release setting | Parole Board |
| Parolee result | Community release under parole supervision | Parole Board and DCS |
A TPM is conditional. Conduct reports and unmet program requirements can postpone or cancel it. Performance Incentive Credit may also affect parole timing when authorized credits are reported, but the Parole Board still controls the parole decision. Georgia does not have one universal rule that every offender serves a fixed 85 percent. Offense-specific statutes and parole guidelines govern.

Colquitt Parole Release Supervision
Prison release does not always end state authority. If the person leaves Colquitt County Correctional Institution on parole, the Parole Board establishes the parole action and DCS supervises the person in the community. The Parolee Search can support the status check. DCS then becomes the local contact when Colquitt County is the place of supervision.
The Moultrie DCS virtual office serves Colquitt County. DCS lists P.O. Box 1792, Moultrie, GA 31776, phone (229) 456-8059, and weekday hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern. A DCS connection should not be read as current prison custody. It means the person may be in the community under felony probation or parole conditions.
- Parole
- Conditional community release from a state sentence under Board authority.
- Probation
- Court-ordered community supervision that may be imposed instead of, or after, confinement.
- Discharge
- The recorded end of a sentence or supervision obligation.
- Transfer
- Movement between custody sites without release to the community.
Colquitt ICE Detainer Questions
An immigration detainer can alter where a person goes after state custody ends. Colquitt County's sheriff page publishes Criminal Alien Tracking reports, but those local PDFs are not a list of releases from the correctional institution. They also do not prove present ICE custody. If a GDC or facility record indicates an agency pickup, request the destination and transfer date.
Use the ICE Online Detainee Locator System only for the immigration-custody part of the inquiry. A detainer is a request tied to custody or notification. A transfer to ICE ends GDC custody but does not mean community release. The GDC event and ICE result should remain separate entries in the timeline.
Note: Colquitt's Criminal Alien Tracking reports are local context, not a complete state-offender or immigration release database.
Historic Colquitt Facility Names
Colquitt County has current corrections facilities and a historic jail site. The historic Colquitt County Jail at 126 1st Avenue SE was built in 1915 and is listed on the National Register. It is not the correctional institution and is not the office for a current state-offender record. Older accounts can also use broad terms such as county prison or jail, so match the name, address, and date.
GDC lists the correctional institution at 200 South Vadenberg Drive and says it opened in 1954. It lists Colquitt County Jail nearby with a different function and an official address spelling of Vandenberg. The shared local setting makes facility identification vital. A request that says only “Colquitt jail” may be routed to the wrong office and return the wrong kind of custody record.
Verify Colquitt Release Conflicts
When public dates conflict, rank the sources by authority over the event. The court controls the sentence. GDC maintains state custody and sentence records. The Parole Board controls parole decisions, and DCS maintains community-supervision information. A local facility page confirms the institution but may not show the latest statewide calculation.
Write down the source, access date, displayed status, and each date field. Then ask the responsible agency to explain the mismatch. The Colquitt County release-record overview provides the separate county-jail path when research shows the person was locally detained rather than serving a state sentence.
Colquitt State Release Credits
GDC's Performance Incentive Credit program is one possible factor in a state offender's timeline. The program lets eligible offenders earn credits by completing case-plan goals. Georgia's work-incentive rule also permits GDC to report up to one day of credit for each day of satisfactory participation in an assigned work or educational program. The Parole Board may use reported credits to advance a tentative parole release date, but GDC does not grant parole.
The official GDC PIC page should be read with the Parole Board record for a person at Colquitt County Correctional Institution. A credit entry, maximum release date, and TPM can refer to different calculations. None should be converted into a final release date without checking the agency that controls it.
Eligibility also varies by sentence. O.C.G.A. § 42-9-45 generally sets parole-consideration timing, while serious violent felony sentencing under O.C.G.A. § 17-10-6.1 can impose mandatory minimums and parole limits. Parole guidelines can recommend different service percentages based on severity and risk. That is why an across-the-board 85 percent assumption is not accurate for Georgia state offenders.
For a local handoff, the Moultrie DCS office serves Colquitt County after parole release. The Colquitt sheriff page also points residents to local DCS contacts, which helps confirm the transition from confinement to community supervision.
